Privacy Policy
savvio · Effective date: March 14, 2026 · Last updated: March 14, 2026
1. Introduction
savvio (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a knowledge extraction tool that helps you turn content — images, PDFs, and videos — into structured mind maps and actionable plans. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.
The app is operated by Tak Braun, an individual developer based in Germany. We take your privacy seriously and process your data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), and applicable privacy laws in other jurisdictions.
Important: Your uploaded content is processed on-device where technically possible. However, to generate AI analysis (mind maps, summaries, action plans), your content is sent to third-party AI providers over an encrypted connection. This is described in detail in Section 4 below.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Uploaded content: Images, PDF documents, and video files you choose to add to the app. This content is stored locally on your device via AsyncStorage.
- Extracted text and transcripts: Text extracted from your documents or audio transcribed from your videos. This text is used as input for AI analysis.
- AI-generated analysis: Summaries, mind maps, topic lists, and action plans generated by AI providers based on your content.
- Subscription status: Whether you have an active savvio Pro subscription, verified via RevenueCat using your App Store receipt. We do not access your Apple ID or payment details.
- App usage data: Item processing counts used solely to enforce free-tier limits (stored locally on-device).
We do not collect your name, email address, or any other personally identifying information unless you contact us directly.
3. How We Use Your Information
- AI analysis: Extracted text and transcripts are transmitted to AI providers (OpenAI or Anthropic, depending on your subscription tier) to generate mind maps, summaries, and action plans.
- Video transcription: For Pro subscribers, video audio is sent to Deepgram for speech-to-text transcription before AI analysis.
- Subscription verification: Your App Store receipt is sent to RevenueCat to verify your subscription entitlement and determine which features you can access.
- App functionality: Locally stored data (content, analysis results, usage counters) is used solely to provide app features on your device.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than operating the app as described above.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
To provide core app functionality, your content is transmitted to the following third-party processors:
Subscription management and entitlement verification
Receives: App Store purchase receipt data, a pseudonymous device-level identifier. Does not receive your uploaded content or AI-generated analysis.
AI content analysis — used for free tier users (GPT-4o-mini model)
Receives: Extracted text from your uploaded images and PDFs. OpenAI's API data usage policy applies; content sent via API is not used to train OpenAI models by default.
AI content analysis — used for Pro tier subscribers (Claude Haiku model)
Receives: Extracted text from your uploaded images and PDFs. Anthropic's API usage policy applies.
Backend infrastructure — routes AI requests via Edge Functions
Receives: Extracted text and analysis requests as they pass through server-side Edge Functions. Supabase does not store your content persistently.
Audio transcription for video content — Pro tier only
Receives: Audio extracted from video files you upload. Deepgram converts speech to text using their Nova-3 model.
All data transmitted to third-party providers travels over encrypted HTTPS connections. We use each provider solely for the stated purpose.
5. Data Storage and Retention
Your uploaded content, extracted text, and AI-generated results are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. There is no cloud sync and no server-side storage of your content. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.
Data transmitted to third-party AI providers for analysis is subject to each provider's retention policies. By default, OpenAI and Anthropic API data is not retained beyond the time needed to generate a response.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. Your data is shared only with the service providers listed in Section 4, strictly for the purposes described, under appropriate data processing agreements.
We may disclose information if required by law, a court order, or a government authority, or if necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Tak Braun, app users, or the public.
7. International Data Transfers
The developer is based in Germany (European Union). Third-party providers listed in Section 4 are primarily US-based companies. When your content is transmitted to these providers, it is transferred to servers in the United States.
These transfers are made on the basis of Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as adopted by the European Commission, or other appropriate transfer mechanisms.
8. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data (“right to be forgotten”).
- Restriction: Request that we restrict processing of your personal data.
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
- Objection: Object to processing of your personal data.
Because most data is stored only on your device, you can exercise the rights of erasure and access by simply deleting the app or the relevant content items.
To exercise any other rights, contact us at tak@takbraun.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
9. Children's Privacy
savvio is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions requiring a higher age threshold). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at tak@takbraun.com and we will delete it promptly.
10. AI-Generated Content Disclosure
In accordance with the EU AI Act (Article 50) and general transparency principles, we disclose that content generated within the app — including summaries, mind maps, topic extractions, and action plans — is produced by artificial intelligence models operated by OpenAI and Anthropic. AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or omissions. It is provided for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as professional, legal, medical, or financial advice.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
